Carte Blanche Group sponsors Brownies badge

12/2/13 Carte Blanche Group is proud to be supporting the ‘Friend to Animals’ badge, one of the 59 Girlguiding UK interest badges on offer to the nation’s Brownies.

Brownies are part of Girlguiding UK, the largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women in the UK with over 500,000 members and recognised volunteers.  Over a third of girls (aged seven to 21) are involved in guiding or have been in the past.

To gain the ‘Friend to Animals’ badge, Brownies must find out about pets, wildlife and animal conservation. For an extra-special white-edged version of the badge, they can take part in fun challenges featuring Tatty Teddy and My Blue Nose Friends . The jointly-branded resource has been designed especially for Brownies and can be downloaded from the Brownies youth site . Activities include crafting projects, games and creative writing.

Ruth Leonard, Director of Marketing at CBG, said: “Tatty Teddy and My Blue Nose Friends are all about thoughtfulness, fun and sharing..  The partnership with Girlguiding UK is perfect as the charity is dedicated to ensuring girls explore their world and reach their potential in a fun, safe environment.”

Carte Blanche launched the relationship with Girlguiding UK with a social media campaign and an entry into the sectional e-newsletter for Brownie Leaders., as well as a competition which gave Brownies the opportunity to design the perfect bedroom for Tatty Teddy, receiving almost 500 entries. First Whalley Brownies won the fabulous prize – £2,000 to spend on a fantastic day out as a group, plus a bundle of the latest Tatty Teddy & My Blue Nose Friends toys. The girls’ spent their prize winnings on a Unit outing on Sunday 3rd February to the Palace Theatre in Manchester to see a musical production.
“It was fantastic!” commented Hazel Dalton, 3rd Whalley Brownies Brown Owl and Heather James, Tawny Owl. “All the Brownies (and leaders) had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed the amazing experience of watching a live musical show.”

Laura Dennison – Senior partnerships Officer at Girlguiding UK said: “ We’re delighted to have generated such a high level of engagement with our members, surrounding our partnership with Carte Blanche.  The new resource is fun and age appropriate, enabling more Brownies to complete their Friend to Animals badge.”
